Data has shown that about 2,000 Goans give up their Indian passport every year to obtain Portuguese citizenship.
Of these individuals, 70% are between the ages of 18 and 35, an increasing number of which is applying with their entire families.
Government statistics say that there are around 400,000 Goans who have registered their births in Portugal, but, do not have a Portuguese passport or bilhete de identidade.
